Thousands of WordPress Themes are out there on the world wide web. Many are quite pretty, support widgets and are AdSense ready. At least that is what they state on the info page where they are posted. But when you download the theme, upload it to your server and activate it, you find out that the “AdSense ready” is quite an exaggeration. Most AdSense ready themes display only one ad on a Sidebar, and, worst of all, they will not display this ad until you edit php code on the corresponding sidebar.php.
Then you navigate on that new theme, and, there is only this tiny little AdSense ad on your sidebar, nothing else there. Now, with that little strategy your click through rate will stay rather low.
I’ve Goggled AdSense Optimized themes and did find a good reference on Ad placement for WordPress themes at Dosh Dosh and the wrong advices (hehe).

On their site you’ll find several (I think 18) AdSense Optimized themes. I’m using the AdSense Prosense theme in blue… that is the only one I liked.

I did find hundreds of not so AdSense ready themes though. Thus I decided to make my favorite “not so AdSense” ready theme a truly AdSense optimized theme. After half a morning of coding it was ready. It will display AdSense ads in pages and posts and on the sidebar. It will always limit the maximum number of displayed ads to three.

You will have to do change your publisher ID on all the adsense_ pages and on the sidebar page, sorry wasn’t able to make a plugin for that. Open the files in any text editor, look for PUB-xxxxxxxx and paste your Publisher ID there. That is all, you are ready to go.
